DigiMeSch - Digital Media at School (DigiMeSch)

The project “Digital Media in Schools” (DigiMeSch) explores how students and teachers in Bavaria use digital media in education and the infrastructure available. It highlights the potentials and challenges of post-pandemic teaching with digital media.

This project is supported by Alliance 90/The Greens.

Description of the project

The project “Digital Media in Schools” (DigiMeSch) examines how students and teachers at secondary schools and high schools in Bavaria use digital media in the classroom. The goal is to analyze the existing infrastructure and understand how digital media are used in post-pandemic regular education. The project surveys the technical conditions in schools and how both students and teachers experience the use of digital media in teaching. It investigates the potentials and challenges of digital learning, particularly in terms of equipment, Wi-Fi quality, and access to media literacy. Data was collected through standardized surveys of students (N=1367) and teachers (N=353). Teachers and students regularly use digital media for communication, information retrieval, and creating teaching materials. The study focuses on future requirements for media education and the improvement of digital infrastructure in schools.
